Self DefenceTechnique training you can use right away.
Self defence is the primary goal of what we teach. Okinawan Karate is not a sport, but a genuine system of self defence. As they progress through the syllabus, students have the opportunity to push their skills, techniques and confidence to a new level in a fun, dynamic way. Contact us today to learn more about each of our course offerings.
Juniors ClassesWhilst we feel it is important that children learn self defence, it is more important that they develop confidence and self esteem. Our Beginners classes are aimed at years 4 to 10 with the idea that if they're having fun, then your kids will want to continue their training. While they are learning self defence as their primary focus, they will also get to take part in sporting opportunities as well as learning social skills and character building habits. We also teach Anti Bullying Techniques. For the older beginners, they will take this class until they learn the basics of Dojo (Training Hall) etiquette as well as the 4 basic blocks and front kicks. Once they achieve a basic understanding of the moves and how to follow instructions, they can move on to the intermediate class.
Beginners Classes are held on
Monday and Thursday Evenings from 6.00pm to 6.45pmIntermediate ClassesFor those that have come through the Beginners Class, these classes will be a step up in what they learn and what they focus on. Where the Beginners Classes were devoted to learning the minimum basics they need to know and the Dojo rules and etiquette, the Intermediate Classes turn the focus to Kata as well as realistic street defence and developing skills derived from Kata for real world self defence, as well as 2 person drills and learning how to move in accordance with other people. Personal development as well as anti bullying practices will also be a major focus.
For new adult students, learning is progressive and will aid in building confidence and self esteem. As they progress the adult student will be challenged again and again to reach their limits and then to create new limits. They will become stronger, more flexible, and more resilient.
Intermediate Classes are held on
